Hi! I'm Louise Pigott, an illustrator and author of children's books from Cambridge, UK. I specialise in creating vibrant, detailed and atmospheric digital illustrations with a hand-painted feel for picture books and children's fiction. I am inspired largely by nature, animals and all things magical, and you will see in my illustrations a range of cute, quirky and mystical characters as well as artwork filled with flora, fauna and beautiful scenery.
I am an experienced freelance illustrator, having worked hard since my graduation in 2009 to create a unique portfolio of work that is colourful and full of original content.
I work using Adobe Photoshop CC, and I keep up-to-date with the latest technology for producing digital illustration as a means of being able to work quickly and effectively for both individual clients and large publishers alike. Working digitally yet with a hand-drawn look is the best of both worlds for me, as you get the soul and personality of a painting or pencil drawing, but with the ability to move and edit the image as needed, and the freedom to apply your illustration to a range of products at various sizes.
Starting out as an illustrator of greeting cards and stationary items, I now increasingly work illustrating and writing stories for children, which I just love.
Clients so far have included Paperchase, Hallmark, Harper Collins, Oxford University Press, American Greetings, Bloomsbury, WHSmith and The Royal Horticultural Society. I have recently completed four pop-up books for Hallmark USA, and illustrated a search-and-find version of A Christmas Carol for Studio Press. My latest picture book, Little Grey's Birthday Surprise by Karl Newson, is released by Parragon in February 2018.
